Magically Yours DJs History and a Personal Message from the Founder
You know, something about being a DJ really makes me happy. Over the nearly two and a half decades of performing for weddings, parties and other events, I noticed something magical, pardon the pun, that happens when I am a part of someones event; albeit a wedding reception, ceremony, retirement party, birthday party or a family picnic, I actually have a vital and important role and become a member of that family for those 4 - 5 hours. My life has been riddled with challenges, excitement, sad times and happy ones, but to be responsible for contributing to the success of someones event means so much to me.
I've been entertaining people for as long as I can remember. I started playing the trumpet when I was four years old and my grandfather Salvatore Petisi handed me his 1920 silver trumpet to try. From then on, the trumpet and me were bound together. My grandfather gave me so much to look forward to by handing me that trumpet, which I still have today. From there my parents guided me to taking lessons and performing with my local school band to eventually joining the United States Navy and becoming a US Navy Band member. It's so gratifying to be able to make someone smile. It's so special to be there when someone says; "Thank you Peter for the wonderful job and for making our day special." You KNOW it means something when a bride and groom have you over for dinner, invite you out to dinner, ask you to help them setup their decorations and get involved making the venue exactly the way "they" want it to be.
I'm grateful for the many years of service that I have given people and for the many years to come. I started the business with my late wife, Eleni P. Vafias, who left this earth in 1996 from complications due to diabetes. She drove me to make the decision to start our own DJ business when the DJ we had for our wedding was late, acted unprofessionally and had signs out to advertise like billboards. That's NOT what I vowed to be like and over the years, became a DJ that cared more about the client and customer service than about myself.
You see, that's what this business is all about. The CLIENT; the bride, the mother of the bride, the person having that birthday, the father, the son, daughter, sister, brother, it's about FAMILY and joy and happiness. This is a business that's not about acting like a complete goofball, but a business that's all about professionalism, music and entertainment. That's why I call myself a "Music Professional" as opposed to just a "disc jockey". The term is slowly becoming old-school because now we no longer spin "records", play CDs or tapes, but now everything is computerized. It's becoming so impersonal. I want to promise you, my future clients, that I will do everything in my power to make your day, your event, the special day you "expect" it to be. It's about YOU. Your family and friends, not me. I'm only a catalyst to help make the day special.
So it is that I give you my solemn word that I will be completely professional, be on-time, setup and ready to go within 30 - 60 minutes of the downbeat. You will enjoy the day for whatever event you're having or I will personally return all of your deposit no questions asked. That's my personal gaurantee to you. Thank you for your business and I do look forward to working with you and hopefully, you'll allow me to let me show you our magic!
